My thoughts on psychotherapy...

"...the road traveled leads to eternity, can be crossed in half a minute and left behind."
- Gary Snyder
I believe we all contain the necessary elements for wholeness. Unfortunately, the challenges of life can turn our survival skills into tools of destruction. Our inability to cope effectively can push away the people and things we care most about. Psychotherapy can create opportunities for healing and growth that we struggle to achieve on our own. Through understanding the impact of our histories and the outmoded nature of our thinking we may begin to open new doors back to wholeness.
The exploration into our histories may at times bring up uncomfortable memories we have preferred to forget, or even unable to recall. By working with a trained professional it is possible to safely explore the mystery of these challenging episodes and change our relationship to them. We can move through fear, shame, and avoidance, to a vital place of personal growth and agency.
I am trained in a variety of therapies including: Internal Family Systems, Art Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, Interpersonal Neurobiology, somatic awareness, and mindfulness/focusing techniques. I utilize these modalities like spokes on a wheel, with the goal of mental health as the 'hub'. It is important to me that you the client feel safe and supported in a manner that works best for you.
